Cement PROJECT

Cement is a finely ground, non-metallic, inorganic powder when mixed with soft/hard water forms a paste that sets and hardens. This hydraulic hardening is primarily due to the formation of calcium silicate hydrates as a result of the reaction between mixing soft water and the major constituents of the cement. In the case of aluminous cements hydraulic hardening involves the formation of calcium aluminate hydrates.

Cement is a basic material for building and civil engineering construction.

Water to Cement Ratio Affecting Concrete Quality

Cement ratio is the number one issue effecting concrete quality.

The ratio is calculated by dividing the water in one cubic yard of the mix ( suppose in pounds) by the cement in the in the mix (suppose in pounds). So if one cubic yard of the mix has 500 pounds of water and 1500 pounds of cement- the mix is a .33 water to cement ratio.

PORTLAND CEMENT
Portland cement is what holds the Crushed stone or gravel together and is available in different grades and colours . LIGHTWEIGHT: PERLITE, VERMICULITE, PUMICE: Naturally occurring minerals that expand when heated
